Pilar Guerrero received her PhD in Mathematics from the University of Granada, Spain, under a project grant from the Junta de Andalucía (2005–2010), working on qualitative aspects of partial differential equations arising in developmental biology and quantum mechanics. From 2010 to 2013, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (Barcelona, Spain), in the Mathematical and Computational Biology group led by Tomás Alarcón, with a visiting stay at the OCCAM centre, University of Oxford (UK), working with Helen Byrne and Philip K. Maini. From 2013 to 2018, she was a postdoctoral researcher at University College London (UK), working with Karen Page (UCL Mathematics) and James Briscoe (Francis Crick Institute).
She is currently an Associate Professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain), and a member of the Interdisciplinary Group for Complex Systems (GISC). Her main research interests are in mathematical biology and stochastic modelling, mainly developing hybrid models that combine reaction-diffusion equations, stochastic vertex models, and multiscale simulations to understand how mechanics and noise govern the collective behaviour of cell populations.
